Glaucoma is a common form of eye disease that affects the optic nerve connecting the eye to the brain. It is one of the leading causes of vision loss in Australia. With the US currently in it’s National Glaucoma Awareness Month, it is an important time to spread the word about this sight-stealing disease. 

Are you at Risk?

The most common people at risk of glaucoma are people who:

  • Have a Family History

  • Have Diabetes

  • Aged 40 years of over

  • Are short sighted

  • Have had a serious injury or multiple surgeries to the eye

  • Have used steroids regularly over a period of time

  • Have hypertension (high blood pressure)

What are the Symptoms?

The most common form of glaucoma beings with a loss of side vision. Other symptoms may include, blurred vision, loss of peripheral vision and difficulty adjusting to low light.
